Start

Start from zero

Create an account, open the app, make a character, start a private chat, and review the core controls before inviting anything else into the flow.

Short answer

Start inside the app, not from every feature at once. Sign in, create one character, send a short first message, then review memory after the conversation has something worth keeping.

Do this

  1. 01Sign in with the method offered on the login page.
  2. 02Open the app and create one character with a name, description, and personality.
  3. 03Start a private chat from that character instead of setting up every optional feature first.
  4. 04After a few messages, open Memory and keep only details that should matter later.

Useful checks

  • Use one test character first so you can understand the flow without cluttering your library.
  • Keep the first profile short; you can improve it after seeing how the character replies.
  • Discord, voice, billing, marketplace, and privacy controls can wait until the basic chat feels right.

If something blocks you

  • If login returns you to the wrong page, go back to the dashboard and reopen the character from there.
  • If the first chat feels off, edit the character profile before adding memories.
  • If account data does not load, refresh once and sign in again before contacting support.

Set up Discord safely

Bring a character into a server only when it helps the scene, then keep the setup easy to pause or change.

Short answer

Discord is optional. Use it when you want a character to reply in a server channel, while Friendify web stays the place where you manage the character, status, and limits.

Do this

  1. 01Open Discord setup from the app.
  2. 02Choose the server and channel where the character should reply.
  3. 03Pick the character and reply style.
  4. 04Pause, reconnect, or change the setup if the server needs a reset.

Useful checks

  • Set up one server and one channel first; add more only after the first channel behaves correctly.
  • Keep web chat as the home base for character edits and privacy decisions.
  • Use pause when you are unsure, instead of deleting the setup immediately.

If something blocks you

  • If the server does not appear, confirm you are signed in with the Discord account that can manage that server.
  • If replies go to the wrong place, check the selected channel before changing the character.
  • If a bot looks unavailable, pause it, reconnect the setup, and then test with a short message.

Use private web chat

Keep roleplay in the web app when you want the clearest account-owned history, character context, and privacy controls.

Short answer

Web chat is the main place to continue private character conversations. Use it when you want the cleanest history, easiest memory review, and the fewest moving parts.

Do this

  1. 01Create or open a character.
  2. 02Start a conversation from the protected chat surface.
  3. 03Continue from recent conversations when returning later.
  4. 04Delete or manage conversation data from privacy and app controls where supported.

Useful checks

  • Use recent conversations when you want continuity instead of starting a new chat each time.
  • Keep one scene per conversation when possible; it makes memory review easier later.
  • Use character edits for personality changes and memory review for facts that should persist.

If something blocks you

  • If the chat does not continue where expected, check recent conversations before creating a new one.
  • If replies ignore important context, add or approve a memory after the conversation has established it.
  • If you want to remove a conversation, use privacy or conversation controls rather than editing the character.

Use Smart Chat Insights

Understand the conversation summary, mood, relationship state, and pinned-message context that help you return to long chats.

Short answer

Smart Chat Insights give each conversation a short AI-generated summary, mood, relationship state, and pinned-message context. Use Smart Chat Insights when you want context; insight refreshes are separate from message replies and have their own plan limit.

Do this

  1. 01Open a conversation from the protected app.
  2. 02Read the Smart Chat Insights panel before continuing a long scene.
  3. 03Refresh the insight after the conversation has enough new context to summarize.
  4. 04Pin useful messages when you want them kept close to the conversation context.

Useful checks

  • Use insights to re-enter long chats faster instead of rereading the whole history.
  • Check Pricing or Billing for your refresh allowance before assuming messages are being spent.
  • Keep the privacy consent enabled if you want Smart Chat Insights to refresh.

If something blocks you

  • If the panel says consent is required, open Privacy and enable Smart Chat Insights.
  • If refresh fails, the latest safe insight stays available while you retry later.
  • If the refresh limit is reached, continue chatting normally and wait for the next plan window.

Create and manage characters

Shape character profiles with enough detail for chat while keeping visibility, moderation, and lorebook expectations clear.

Short answer

A good character starts with a clear role, tone, and boundaries. You do not need a huge profile; you need enough direction for the first conversation to feel intentional.

Do this

  1. 01Write the name, description, personality, and visibility intentionally.
  2. 02Keep sensitive personal data out of public character surfaces.
  3. 03Use lorebook for durable world facts rather than personal memory by default.
  4. 04Review marketplace or creator surfaces before sharing a character publicly.

Useful checks

  • Start with what the character is like, what they care about, and how they usually speak.
  • Use lorebook for places, factions, recurring objects, and world rules.
  • Keep private characters private until you have reviewed what the public profile says.

If something blocks you

  • If replies feel generic, add a stronger personality note or a more specific opening situation.
  • If the character keeps mixing world facts, move those facts into lorebook entries.
  • If you are unsure about sharing, keep visibility private and test the character in web chat first.

Control memory and lorebook

Understand what can be remembered, what needs review, and how lorebook differs from personal memory.

Short answer

Memory is for details you want Friendify to reuse in later chats. Lorebook is for world or character knowledge. Review both deliberately so continuity feels useful, not noisy.

Do this

  1. 01Open Memory to review candidates and approved details.
  2. 02Approve only details you want Friendify to keep using.
  3. 03Reject or delete memories that are wrong, sensitive, or no longer useful.
  4. 04Use lorebook entries for character and world facts.

Useful checks

  • Keep memories short and specific; one useful detail is better than a long recap.
  • Reject jokes, temporary scene details, and anything that would be strange to repeat later.
  • Use lorebook when the detail belongs to the setting, not to your relationship with a character.

If something blocks you

  • If the app remembers the wrong thing, reject or delete that memory and continue the chat.
  • If a world fact keeps disappearing, add it to the character lorebook instead of memory.
  • If you want a cleaner session, disable memory temporarily and use web chat normally.

Trust

Mature access and age verification

Understand why mature or NSFW access may ask for a simple 18+ confirmation in some regions and Yoti age assurance in others.

Short answer

Friendify uses the least intrusive mature-access check we can. SFW features still work, and mature access uses self-declaration or age assurance depending on the user's apparent region and applicable law.

Do this

  1. 01Open the mature surface you want to use.
  2. 02Follow the gate shown for your apparent country or US state.
  3. 03Use the simple 18+ confirmation where the policy allows self-declaration.
  4. 04Use Yoti only where stronger age assurance is required for mature or NSFW content.

Useful checks

  • Friendify does not block VPNs for this policy.
  • Friendify stores only the mature-access result needed to unlock eligible content.
  • If your location looks wrong, contact support with the route and your account email.

If something blocks you

  • Read the age-verification explainer before sending identity information anywhere.
  • Use SFW app features while mature access is pending or unavailable.
  • Contact [email protected] if the gate appears to use the wrong region.

Account

Understand pricing and billing

Compare Free, Spark, Bond, and Realm by the limits you will actually notice while using the app.

Short answer

Choose a plan by the amount you actually use: messages, characters, memory, Discord bots, and voice minutes. Payment details are entered in checkout, not inside Friendify forms.

Do this

  1. 01Compare plan limits before upgrading.
  2. 02Open Billing from the app when you want to change plans.
  3. 03Confirm payment on the checkout page, then return to Friendify.
  4. 04Never send card details or unnecessary private information to support.

Useful checks

  • Free is enough to test the flow; paid plans are for larger character libraries and heavier use.
  • Check message and voice limits before assuming something is broken.
  • Use Billing for plan changes; use Contact only when the billing page itself is not enough.

If something blocks you

  • If the current plan looks wrong, refresh Billing once after checkout.
  • If checkout does not open, sign in again and retry from Billing.
  • If you contact support, include the account email, route, time, and what you expected to happen.

Trust

Review privacy, cookies, and security

Use the legal pages and Privacy center to understand saved data, cookies, exports, deletion, and account control.

Short answer

Use Privacy for actions, and legal pages for policy details. If you want to change saved memories, export data, delete data, or unlink something, start from the Privacy center.

Do this

  1. 01Read the Privacy Policy for data categories, retention, and rights.
  2. 02Read the Cookie Policy for login, theme, and third-party cookie notes.
  3. 03Use the protected Privacy center for consent, export, deletion, and unlink requests.
  4. 04Contact support quickly if you suspect account abuse or unsafe access.

Useful checks

  • Use memory controls for story continuity and privacy request controls for account-level requests.
  • Read cookie notes when login, theme, or third-party sign-in behavior is confusing.
  • Keep support messages focused; do not include passwords or private keys.

If something blocks you

  • If you cannot access Privacy, sign in again and open it from the app navigation.
  • If export or deletion status is unclear, include the request type and account email when contacting support.
  • If you suspect unsafe access, contact support and change the connected sign-in account password.

Navigate marketplace, collections, and creators

Understand public discovery surfaces, mature-content gates, creator profiles, collections, reviews, reports, and moderation expectations.

Short answer

Marketplace and creator surfaces are for public discovery. Before sharing or reporting anything, check visibility, mature-content expectations, and whether the listing says what a visitor would actually need to know.

Do this

  1. 01Use Marketplace to discover public listings when available.
  2. 02Open creator profiles and collections from their public routes.
  3. 03Respect mature-content gates and age-assurance status where required.
  4. 04Report unsafe listings, creator behavior, or reviews from the app where supported.

Useful checks

  • Review a character as a visitor would see it before sharing.
  • Keep public descriptions clear and avoid private personal details.
  • Use reports for safety or policy problems, not ordinary preference mismatches.

If something blocks you

  • If a listing is missing, check whether the character or collection is actually public.
  • If mature content is blocked, follow the gate shown in the app instead of trying another route.
  • If something looks unsafe, report it with a short explanation and the route where you saw it.

Support

Troubleshoot loading and account state

Handle loading issues, sign-in trouble, plan display problems, Discord setup, voice access, and stale screens.

Short answer

Start with the smallest reset: refresh, sign in again, then check whether the issue is limited to one surface. That makes support faster if you still need help.

Do this

  1. 01Refresh the page and sign in again if account data cannot load.
  2. 02Check whether the issue is limited to characters, conversations, billing, Discord, or voice.
  3. 03Use Contact with route, account email, timestamp, and a safe summary of the issue.
  4. 04Do not send passwords, private keys, payment details, or unnecessary sensitive content.

Useful checks

  • Write down the route before refreshing if the problem only happens on one page.
  • Try the same action once after signing in again; repeated retries usually do not add useful information.
  • Mention whether the issue is desktop, mobile, or both.

If something blocks you

  • If a page stays blank, include the route and approximate time in your support message.
  • If Discord or voice is unavailable, check plan and privacy controls before reporting it.
  • If billing looks stale after checkout, wait a moment, refresh Billing, then contact support if it still looks wrong.

Account

Export data, delete data, or close an account

Use privacy request workflows for exports, memory deletion, conversation deletion, Discord unlink, and account deletion with clear cooling-off expectations.

Short answer

For account-level changes, use Privacy first. Export, correction, deletion, unlink, and account closure requests need clear intent so the app can show the right status.

Do this

  1. 01Open the protected Privacy center.
  2. 02Choose the request type that matches export, correction, deletion, unlink, or account closure.
  3. 03Expect account deletion to include the stated cooling-off period where applicable.
  4. 04Contact support if you cannot access the protected Privacy center.

Useful checks

  • Use memory deletion for a specific saved detail and account deletion only when you want to close the whole account.
  • Export before deleting if you may need a copy of your data later.
  • Unlink Discord separately when you only want to remove a connected service.

If something blocks you

  • If you cannot reach Privacy, sign in again and try from the app navigation.
  • If a request status is unclear, contact support with the request type and account email.
  • If you change your mind about account deletion, act during the cooling-off period shown by the app.

When the guide is not enough

Send support the same kind of safe context you would use to describe an issue.

  • Use the account email connected to the issue when you can.

  • Include the route, approximate time, and a short description of what failed.

  • Do not send passwords, private keys, card details, or unnecessary sensitive content.
