Meanings come from this genre's invented word list, made for the generator: they aren't real-world etymology.
Readers hear threat in hard stops and hissing fricatives, so the pack front-loads V, K, D, Z and X and stacks them into clusters such as Skar, Drak, Grash and Threx. The vowels between them are short and cold.
Masculine forms land blunt on -us, -ok, -ax or -oth. Feminine ones coil round -essa, -ira and -lith, and neutral names stay clipped with -ix, -ash or -yn. Vorgath and Nyxa Vane show the two ends of that range.
Family names pair a grim prefix (Grave, Dread, Cinder, Skull) with a root like mourn, blight or wraith and an ending such as -moor, -bane or -gard. Others are a single cold word: Vane, Fell, Mire, Kryn.
The meaning line under each result comes from the generator's own invented glossary. Vor reads as iron will, Mal as malice, Sev as keen blade and the ending -yn as nameless, so Malyn might be a nameless malice: useful for a figure the heroes only know by rumour.
Not every antagonist growls. The elegant tone adds -aire, -isse and -oire, right for a courtier who smiles while plotting. Powerful brings -rex and -gorn for someone who rules by force, and soft endings like -lin and -sa suit the villain who seems kind until chapter ten.
Set the name beside your hero's. A different first letter and a different number of syllables keep the two apart on the page, and the first-letter filter makes that quick to arrange.
Hand-picked names first, then more from the generator, each with how to say it and what its parts mean.
